just so you know you are a complete asshat for parking there. I don't care how careful you are and I can tell you appreciate his car but understand he parked there for a reason he didn't just randomly pick the furthest spot in the corner. He doesn't want people parking next to him for good reason and one look at your truck tells him you are just an asshole who enjoys upsetting people who aim to keep their rides in good shape away from others. This has always aggravated me when others do it as there are plenty of closer spots to take. So take this info as you will but you just annoyed this guy greatly and kind of look like a dick

or you could have parked in another secluded area like a few spots down and not have anyone to worry about.... this makes it look like you targeted him and said Haha thought you had this spot all to yourself try again sucker! That's what you get for driving a fancy car! Just don't do this shit. If you like being secluded ok fine go find a secluded spot. This isn't a secluded spot you basically ruined this guys peace of mind and I guarantee you he doesn't think you care about your truck in the least and prolly treat it as a cheap junker

That doesnt change the fact that he comes out after parking his baby way out and has a 20yo pickup truck parked RIGHT NEXT TO HIM.
The asshat accusation stands.

No, youre an asshat for calling someone else an asshat in this situation. Yes, he parked it way way back to avoid the door dings, but theres plenty of excess room left between the cars, no foul play, and if anything, the pickup is ensuring no one else can park there like a true asshat. To simply say that the driver of an older pickup is a jackass looking to prove something is no better than being a snob. Car enthusiasts come in all shapes and sizes. Judging solely on the parking job, It was by someone I certainly wouldnt mind parking by my own SL. So just know that you were the asshat, and there are cool classic car owners that dont mind when someone parks next to them. To even imply that the porsche owner is like that is a terrible thing.
Go crawl back under your bridge and try again next time, because you're being a piss poor enthusiast right now.

O really? So you think the Porsche guy randomly picked spot in the very back of the lot with zero cars within 10 spaces and said gee I really hope a 20 year old ranger takes this spot next to me! People will be dicks. it doesn't matter if im driving my dads Miata 65 vette or my st parking in the very back of a lot with a decent looking car will draw some asshat to park next to me. and its never a fellow performance car usually just someone who says I see what your trying to do and im not gonna let it happen because im a dick. Don't do this shit. If you care about your car park away from others and respect when people clearly drive nice cars and clearly want the privacy

I park my Fiesta ST in the back of lots so that other enthusiasts can park their cars next to mine or people can take a look at it if they want. I've never had someone do a bad park job near me while if I park in the herd, it is almost inevitable that someone is over the line or leaves their cart out.
Take this comment as you will but you just greatly annoyed myself and many other people on here greatly and kind of look like a dick.

I put my cars far back in parking lots, but you know what? I park between the lines, I lock my car, and I park it nose out. Parking lots are public spaces, I cant park somewhere thinking that its a magical barrier between my car and the rest of the world. Maybe people just share the same beliefs and also park where they want, regardless of not just what you drive, but what they drive as well. You can try and justify why no on should ever park near you, but in the end, I would rather someone neatly park next to me than have some asshole cut it way too close. Its still a public place, unless a store owner tells me I cant be there, I will keep to myself. Youre getting hot headed over your own pet peeve, and thats just wrong. Get your head out of your ass, your foot out of your mouth and stop being a dick.
And dont try to defend "performance" cars parking at the end of the lot, because that Ranger is parked better than that Porsche. Until you own the roads, parking lots and can order people around, step off of your crumbling soap box and accept that youre wrong, and being very rude. People like you reinforce stereotypes, and its people like you that need to learn to change. You're holding the rest of us back.

im not wrong and youre a dick who is lying to himself saying he doesn't care if someone else parks near him in his solitude. It appears others agree with me so your wrong. One look at those photos and there is no question why that Porsche is there and also no question how hes gonna feel when a 20 year old ford chose that spot out of hundreds of others closer to the store. Maybe you need to get a nicer car that means more to you before you try to understand others motivations

IDK, if I saw a guy in a ranger looking like he was sticking his hand in my classic porsche's cracked window, I wouldn't think "Oh, an enthusiast!" I'd think "that motherfucker is trying to break into my car" Parking job or not, invading someone's car like that ain't cool.

Taking a picture of someone's interior like that when they're just parked at Walmart is sketchy as fuck, dude. I know there isn't really an expectation of privacy in an object parked on public property that's mostly glass, but it's still not cool.

I would have left one space in between as a courtesy, but not leaving a space certainly doesn't make you an asshat. Paranoid people seem to be assuming the Porsche owner is paranoid.

Hey, if that porsche owner was super stuck up, he would have been watching the whole time and would have definitely come out with choice words to say. That or the car wouldnt have been left unattended.
As the previous owner of my SL always told me, many times, "its just a car." Appreciate it for what it is, what it means to you, and that you have it, but dont withold it from others. It was built to be enjoyed and used. It wont be perfect and it wont last forever, but enjoy it to the fullest and share it with as many people as you can. Thats how you share the enthusiasm.

> JGrabowMSt
04/01/2015 at 15:33 | 5 |
Sharing the enthusiasm or not, its still invasive to go sticking your shit all up in a strangers car in a parking lot, period. Its not respectful to the owner, and its not being a courteous enthusiast. Sure the owner might not mind and would be willing to share and be a nice guy and let him ask questions and maybe even a ride, but I'd never stick my phone in someone's cracked window to take pictures of the interior unless I asked them first. Its simple manners.

First off that Porsche is really "nailing it" as someone else said.
As far as the parking thing goes, I also always park in the back of the lot too. If there are other enthusiast cars I abide by the 1 space buffer rule. I don't think you're an asshat for parking right next to him, you clearly gave him plenty of room. However I can see him (the driver) thinking the same thing that I think when I park far away from everything and someone parks right next to me. "Really man, the whole lot and you had to park next to me just because you also have XYZ car, or think my car is cool or whatever". For me it's just principal I assume that it's obvious to everyone that I don't want anyone else parking near my car.

Damn, that looks really clean and original.
And imo, you did nothing wrong parking next to him. Anyone can park in any space in that lot, there's no reserved spaces. In my eyes, I (and probably many others here) park on the end spots in the far corner not because that means we "own" the whole section while we're parked there, it's just a way to minimize risk of someone parking next to us. You left plenty of room, and I bet once he sees your "Save the Manuals sticker" (you have one of those, right?) he'll know that you parked there because you liked his car.

my favorite invasive moment was at a cars and coffee where a group of black youths happened to randomly be at the coffee shop not there for the cars. they stopped at 550 maranello beautiful car in red. This kid took off his Jordan sneaker full of stones and placed it right on the hood then they posed on the car and took instagram shot saying shit like 3hunna. I cringed so hard and prayed the owner wasn't anywhere near. it just goes to show people are stupid as fuck when it comes to nice cars and respecting other people property.

I do this all the time. Granted I keep my car fairly pristine and it has the Audi Club of America sticker on it, but rather Denver park next to him and protect him from asshats unbeknownst to the owner than have an actual asshat par that.
Also, starting a helpful tip off with, "You're an asshat" is not how helpful tips work.

youre the one attaching a negative stereotype to my description not me. Im simply being descriptive. Since when is it racist to call a group of black kids a group of black youths? would it be racist to say I saw a group of Asian ladies walking their dogs and? No Stop putting a negative connotation on their skin color

Well I could go into how you ignored me pointing out that color of skin has nothing to do with whether or not they're dicks around cars and that the fact that your reasoning behind me pointing out that color of skin doesn't matter is somehow attaching a negative stereotype doesn't make any sense at all........buuuuuut.....nah, forget it. sure, why not.
